The seven-seater MPV makes an excellent choice of car for a growing family. Well equipped, with powerful engines and a stylish exterior, it is easy to see why the Touran has been named ‘Best MPV 2017’ in the What Car? awards. There are five trim levels to choose from, S, SE, SE Family, SEL and R-Line
The Touran successfully combines style with functionality, making it one of the more elegant options in the MPV class. Its sleek, refined exterior is enhanced by chrome trims on the front grille and on the window surrounds. Roof rails are fitted on all models, so you can easily add bars for transporting skis or all your camping paraphernalia. Alloy wheels are standard on the SE trim and up.
The cabin is finished in premium quality materials, and incorporates many features to make your journeys more comfortable. A front centre armrest is welcome when you are travelling longer distances, and storage compartments in the cabin are useful. Air conditioning is installed as standard, and upgraded to a three-zone climate version on the SEL and R-Line editions. The SE Family edition has a panoramic sunroof to allow more light to flood into the cabin. The space in the Touran is highly versatile. Keep all seven seats in position when you need to carry a large family or give lifts to friends. When you need space to transport bulky items, you can simply fold the third row of seats down flat to the level of the boot floor, and if that is not big enough, fold the middle row of seats down too to create even more space.
The engine line-up for the Touran includes petrol and diesel options, all featuring BlueMotion technology for enhanced fuel economy. The 1.6-litre TDI diesel engine is the most economical option, giving you a return of 65.7mpg. The fastest performance comes from the 1.4-litre TSI 148bhp petrol engine with six-speed manual transmission, which accelerates from 0-60mph in approximately nine seconds.
Safety and technology
All models are fitted with DAB radio and a Composition Media infotainment system with colour touchscreen. The SE Family, SEL and R-Line editions have the Discover Navigation system with Car-Net Guide & Inform, designed to make it easier to find new destinations, and to find the best route on more familiar journeys.
The range of safety features in the Touran includes ABS, ESC, ISOFIX child seat fittings, and a set of airbags which includes a driver’s knee airbag.
