The widely acclaimed Octavia is available as an estate version, which provides even greater passenger and cargo space than is already offered by the hatchback iteration. This accomplished family car also comes with range of economical engines and plenty of safety technology.
While eminently practical, the Octavia Estate is also nice to look at. Its smartly sculpted body is adorned with several eye-catching features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, which are conveniently secured with anti-theft bolts. S grades feature a number of black-hued fixtures, including door handles, door mirrors and roof rails, each helping to provide the car with a cohesive look.
Time-saving features include electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, enabling the driver to easily keep an eye on vehicles that are moving alongside. Tinted glass is fitted too, which ensures that the sun’s rays don’t negatively impact on the temperature of the cabin.
The new Octavia Estate provides plenty of space for each of its five travellers. The driver is able to get to grips with a three-spoke leather steering wheel. The steering column is tilt-and-telescopic and, in conjunction with a height-adjustable seat, ensures that the driver can quickly get comfortable. Other standard features include electric front windows and air conditioning, which each help to make sure that the vehicle’s in-cabin climate is maintained with ease.
With all seats in place, the Octavia possesses a 610-litre boot space. If more cargo capacity is required, simply fold the rear seats to reveal a class-competitive 1,780 litres.
The Octavia is installed with a 1.0-litre 113bhp petrol engine as standard, which is paired with six-speed manual transmission. This delivers up to 62.8mpg and a 105g/km CO2 emissions figure. A 1.6-litre 108bhp diesel alternative – which is available as an option for entry-level S trims – returns as much as 74.3mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 99g/km.
Technology and safety
In-car entertainment is provided by an eight-speaker sound system and includes DAB radio, which delivers a wide range of stations in crystal-clear audio quality. Bluetooth connectivity and SD, USB and AUX inputs feature too, enabling further music-playing opportunities.
The Octavia comes with Euro NCAP’s maximum five-star crash test rating. The vehicle features an array of driver aids, such as Hill-hold Control, as well as Automatic Post-collision Braking System (APCBS), which autonomously applies brake pressure following an impact. Incidentally, APCBS works in conjunction with sensors connected to the vehicle’s airbags, of which there are seven provided. Other passive safety features include height-adjustable head restraints, ISOFIX child-seat preparation and child-safe door locks.
The widely commended Octavia Estate is available now from Motorline ŠKODA. If you would like to take the vehicle for a spin, be sure to book a test drive with us at your earliest convenience.
