The five-door exterior is beautifully compact and stylish. Its silhouette is characterised by a blend of smooth and sharp lines, giving this hybrid hatchback a unique appearance. Up front, halogen headlamps with LED daytime running lights bolster your presence at any time of day. The energetic Sport model is equipped with sleek black, 17-inch alloy wheels to strengthen its style, plus privacy glass to enhance its exclusive feel. The range-topping Premium trim benefits from cool, auto-folding door mirrors and sharp aluminium scuff plates.
On board, a sophisticated interior awaits. The driver-centric cockpit places all clever controls in easy reach. Low engine noise means that your cabin is nice and quiet – especially around town. From the plush NuLuxe trim to optional bamboo accents, the interior also reflects the CT’s eco-conscious credentials. Upgrade to the Executive Edition to enjoy heated front seats. Go for the F Sport model and you will enjoy bolstered sport seats to grip you around corners, an ergonomic, leather steering wheel, and polished aluminium pedals. With the seats folded down, you have up to 1,000 litres of boot space.
The CT comes with one, state-of-the-art engine – the CT200h, which is capable of delivering up to 70mpg. It’s a 1.8-litre petrol paired with a cutting-edge electric motor, taken from the Toyota Prius. Tucked away under the boot floor, it runs near silent in the city. The unit is capable of powering the car on electricity alone over short distances, and it can simultaneously power the wheels and charge the batteries. Really low emissions make it exempt from road tax and the London congestion charge. Running this car definitely won’t break the bank.
Technology and safety
High safety levels are another highlight of the Lexus CT. It scored the maximum of five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests, giving you total reassurance. As standard it has eight airbags, including knee airbags for front seat passengers, as well as traction control for improved handling. Electronic stability control also helps you remain steady in all conditions. What’s more, the robust chassis is designed for ultimate protection in case of an accident. Optional advanced navigation comes in the form of a voice-activated satellite-navigation system, which provides detailed maps with 3D city views.
