The Tiguan is in the top three best-selling Volkswagen vehicles in the UK, beaten only by the Golf and the Polo. The success of the SUV can be attributed to its solid build quality, high equipment standards and its versatility.
A recent facelift has given the Volkswagen Tiguan a fresh new look, with a restyled bumper and headlights. Roof rails fitted across the range are both sporty and practical. There are six different models available in the Tiguan range, all with a generous specification. Even the entry level S edition has 17-inch alloy wheels, which are larger on higher trims, with 20-inch Suzuka alloys on the R-Line. The SE and SE Nav trims have front fog lamps as well as tinted rear windows and tailgate, while the R-Line gets its own unique look courtesy of its exterior body kit. Text here ...
The Tiguan’s cabin is spacious and well-equipped, with storage compartments and trays, a front centre arm rest with 12V socket, and chilled glovebox provided for your comfort and convenience. The S trim is fitted with air conditioning, while an upgrade to the SE will get you three-zone climate control. The panoramic slide and tilt sunroof on the SEL edition allows light to flood into the cabin, and if you find it too bright on a really sunny day, you can make use of the sunblind. Automatic lights mean you can’t forget to switch your lights on at dusk, while rain-sensitive wipers adapt their speed according to the rainfall. The 520 litres of boot space will be sufficient for most everyday needs, but this can be expanded to 615 litres simply by sliding the rear seats forward, with further space available when the rear seats are folded down.
The Tiguan is fitted with a choice of petrol or diesel engines. The most efficient of the engines is the 2.0-litre TDI 114bhp BlueMotion Tech edition, which returns 60.1mpg in the six-speed manual version. The 2.0-litre TDI 237bhp engine gives you the fastest performance, with acceleration from 0-60mph taking approximately seven seconds.
Safety and technology
A 12.3-inch Active Info display is fitted behind the steering wheel in place of a conventional analogue instrument panel. In addition, a central eight-inch colour touchscreen offers mirroring capability from a compatible smartphone, to give you convenient access to the apps on your device. The SE Nav version has the added benefit of the Discover Media navigation system, with a three-year subscription to Car-Net Guide & Inform services.
DAB radio is provided on all models.
The Tiguan has a wealth of safety features, including some of the latest technology from Volkswagen, such as pedestrian monitoring and city emergency braking, which are fitted on the entry level S and up.
