The most iconic car in the Volkswagen line-up, the Beetle oozes style and youthful glamour. With its high standards of equipment, comfort and performance, it’s all too easy to fall in love with the new Volkswagen Beetle.
The distinctive styling of the Volkswagen Beetle makes it stand out from the crowd wherever it goes. True to its heritage that spans nearly 80 years, the new curvaceous profile is enhanced by oversized headlamps for a fun element. In addition to the entry level Beetle, there are three more models – Design, Dune and R-Line. The Design gives you 17-inch alloy wheels, while the Dune gets 18-inch alloys, as well as a range of unique colours and a choice of decals. The R-Line has a look of its own thanks to the R-Line stylised bumpers. Tinted glass in the R-Line lends a touch of sophistication, with the added benefit of heat insulation.
Inside the three-door Beetle there are four seats, with plenty of headroom and legroom to allow your passengers to travel in comfort. Materials and finishes are high quality throughout, with leather steering wheel and body-coloured door panels and dash available in the Design trim. The R-Line’s dynamic exterior is reflected inside with R-Line logo sports seats fitted as standard and sports instrument dials. Parking is made easy in the R-Line thanks to parking sensors fitted in the front and rear. All models have semi-automatic air conditioning to make journeys more enjoyable whatever the weather, and this is upgraded to dual-zone air conditioning in the R-Line model.
The Volkswagen Beetle has a choice of seven engines, including a 1.2-litre TSI petrol, with six-speed manual transmission, which is fitted in the entry level Beetle. This gives you 52.3mpg and can accelerate from 0-60mph in under 11 seconds, while the 1.4-litre TSI petrol BlueMotion six-speed manual can take you from 0-60mph in under nine seconds. If you are looking for the engine which will give you the best fuel economy, choose the 2.0-litre TDI BlueMotion five-speed manual, which delivers 65.7mpg.
Technology and safety
All Beetle models have safety features such as ESC with EDL and ASR traction control. ABS is fitted as standard with hydraulic brake assist, and all Beetles have an automatic post-collision braking system.
Bluetooth connectivity for telephone is provided across the range, as is a DAB radio. A Composition colour touchscreen for infotainment is provided on all models, increasing in size with the higher specifications.
